Comedian George Lopez Talks Basketball, Brooklyn Nets and the NBA [UPDATE]

George Lopez is one of the best known names in popular Mexican-American culture. He has proven time and time again that his comedic point of view is unique and hilarious. However, it is less well known that Lopez is actually a huge basketball fan. A few years back, he showed his knowledge of the sport, while discussing his favorite teams. And, in recent news, Lopez has publically showed his disapproval of Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov.

Lopez first got noticed after his stand up comedy specials started getting a large following. Now, George has reached a whole different level of fame.

He has a self-produced sitcom on ABC, entitled The George Lopez Show, and he even has his own talk show. All in all, he is one of the key Latino entertainers in the modern market.

Even with all of his fame and a huge fan base, there is still a side to Lopez that goes unnoticed. According to ESPN, George has hinted at his basketball fandom in the past:

"There are so many great teams. From a city like Oklahoma, to the Celtics, who have a tradition of championships. To me, there's going to be a lot of finals. There's a Cleveland and Boston final. There's lot of really great teams. There are a lot of players that you have to enjoy now."

Now, it looks like Lopez is at it again, and according to TMZ Sports, Lopez didn't hesitate to drop some knowledge on Brooklyn's current situation:

"George Lopez [isn't] a fan of Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov -- saying he's not just shocked the guy is 'bailing' on the team ... but couldn't believe he would do something as 'low' as trading the coach. Lopez was out in D.C. when he heard the news that Prokhorov is looking to sell the team -- less than 5 years after buying the majority share of the Nets for $223 million. 'That guy's bailing on them already?...it's shocking to me.' Lopez also ripped Prokhorov for trading away head coach Jason Kidd to the Bucks last year..."
