10 Conductors Caught Using Magic: Classicalite's Rewrite

Yesterday, Buzzfeeder Andrew Massey's cute li'l listicle, "10 Conductors Caught Using Magic," went viral with the tagline: "What, you think perfectly orchestrated symphonies happen because of practice?"

Well, as anyone who's read this site even once can certainly attest, the answer to Massey's admittedly tongue-in-cheek query is resounding.

"Yes!"

No, insofar as conductors like Christoph Eschenbach, Gerard Schwarz and Gustavo Dudamel go, there is no such thing as "magic"--save for perhaps the "magic" of music, herself.

Now, we here at Classicalite have nothing against the Buzzfeed brand. In fact, there was a time, not too long ago, when almost everything they published was spot on.

Moreover, any time a community post about conducting bests the proper ones on kitty cats, Ryan Gosling or that bakery in Scottsdale, Arizona, we all win.

Heck, we--ourselves--have shared funny conductor memes before.

To wit, it's in this same cheeky spirit--with an extra sly nod to HuffPo's ubiquitous slideshows--that we rewrite Buzzfeed's original post.
