Ariel Pink Plays L.A. Cab Driver in New Johann Rashid Short 'Vagabond,' Premiering at Sugar Mountain [WATCH]

Ariel Pink is always up to no good. This time, he plays a creepy cab driver in a new short film, Vagabond, presented by the Melbourne festival Sugar Mountain (which takes place on January 24).

Directed by Johann Rashid, the five-minute short stars Pink as a loquacious and cynical cab driver in Los Angeles. Carting around riders the likes of Tim Koh (Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti) and Samantha Urbani (Friends), the film has an artsy color to it.

As Noisey puts it, the film takes on an indie pop Taxi Driver and is the latest in Rashid's canon of films made for the Melbourne music and arts festival. A philosophical cab driver, maybe, Pink is a quirky character just like his music.

The soundtrack includes Harmon, 5hags and Rashid's own band Eastlink. And we suppose it's true that Ariel really does know the ins-and-outs of L.A. Thus, who better to drive around the aimless vagabonds of the city streets?

Produced by Pete Keen, Ismail Shallis and Rashid, with cinematography by Shallis, Sugar Mountain is set to take place this Saturday.

In the meantime, keep up with Pink here on Classicalite and check him out below in the latest from Rashid coming to Sugar Mountain this weekend.
