WWE Dolph Ziggler Criticizes CM Punk on SmackDown: Former Champ Seems Unfazed, Focused on UFC

CM Punk could be the most talked about ex-WWE wrestler. After his messy departure from the organization and signing with the UFC, his name doesn't venture far from most sports related conversations. Recently, Dolph Ziggler targeted him on SmackDown, and even though his attack was a low blow, it is nothing compared to the criticisms Punk has received for his switch to MMA.

Punk got his start in wrestling in the mid 1990s with the home-brewed Lunatic Wrestling Federation. It consisted of his friends and brother Mike. After that he went to wrestling school, got a gig with Ring of Honor and eventually made his way over to TNA.

CM finally made his way into the notorious WWE.

After that, Punk blew up, and he achieved a lot. Most impressively, he is the longest-reigning WWE Champion of the "modern era."

He held the title for 434 days.

Towards the end of his career, things turned sour, and Punk left the company in a somewhat clouded manner. Punk later complained about how the WWE mistreated him, and according to Cage Side Seats, Dolph Ziggler recently jumped on the Punk bashing bandwagon:

"During [a recent episode] of SmackDown, Dolph Ziggler cut a promo in his big return after two weeks of downtime thanks to his being 'fired' by The Authority. He used his time to say that he stood up for what he believes in and that's why the powers that be went after him, but he's willing to take whatever punishment they have to dish out now that he's back because he just loves the business oh so much. Then, from nowhere, and seemingly for no reason, a shot at CM Punk..."

For most Punk fans, the attack was uncalled for. However, with all the crap CM has had to deal with over the last year or so, he is most likely unfazed by the ordeal. Plus, based on a report by MMA Fighting, Punk has enough on his plate with the UFC:

"The response to the UFC's recent signing of former WWE star CM Punk has been decidedly mixed, with some fans and fighters celebrating the eyes Punk will undoubtedly to the UFC, and others decrying the sideshow element of allowing an untested 0-0 fighter a free ticket into the big leagues. Safe to say UFC President Dana White has heard both sides of the argument..."
