Joyce DiDonato Launches Exciting New Project for Fans: #JoyceAndMe

Joyce DiDonato, one of Classicalite's favorite mezzo-sopranos, has just launched a new, crowd-sourced campaign that's allowing fans to choose various elements of her upcoming Greatest Hits compilation--celebrating an entire decade of recording with Virgin and EMI Classics.

The #JoyceAndMe project, which runs from May 15 until July 1, is giving fans the chance to help DiDonato determine the album's title, its tracklisting and even some of the cover art and liner notes. The album will be released worldwide (September 2 in the United Kingdom, September 3 in the States) to coincide with Joyce's highly-anticipated performance at the BBC's Last Night of the Proms.

The three parts of the crowd-sourcing, to be conducted across Joyce's Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts, will invite fans to vote on a title (May 22-27), suggest which recordings they'd like to see on the back of this Best Of (May 29-June 4) and, finally, share photos and stories from concerts and recordings--some of which will be included in the album's art and notes (June 10-25).

The campaign will end July 1, when The Yankee Diva--herself--will give her many, many fans the first look at her new album cover.

For this first round of voting, as you can see above, Classicalite went with the title ReJoyce.

And so did Alex Ross, The New Yorker's classical music critic.

Joyce DiDonato is an exclusive Virgin/EMI Classics recording artist. She's recorded five acclaimed recital albums (including the Grammy-winning Diva, Divo and last year's Drama Queens), five complete operas and two concert recordings. She was also featured on conductor and arranger John Wilson's chart-topping Rodgers & Hammerstein at the Movies, as well as Emmanuelle Haïm's Lamenti project.
