Wendy Williams claims that after 6-years and 1000 episodes with her TV show that she's just not the same woman that she used to be. According to the latest gossip news updates, the wig wearing talk show host thinks that she has matured quite a bit since her day as an irascible radio DJ -- as evidenced by Williams' willingness to let her guests keep some subjects of limits. Perhaps, that is why Williams got so mad at Fargo Golden Globe winner Billy Bob Thornton, when he made remarks about wanting to sleep with Brad Pitt's ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston. Wendy insists that the Sling Blade director only made those comments to hurt his former wife, Angelina Jolie, who is said to have a celebrity feud with the Friends starlet since marrying Pitt herself.
This Thursday night at midnight Wendy Williams celebrates her 1000 episodes as host of her own show on the BET network, but the 50-year-old radio-turn-TV personality insists that she's not the same woman who started back in 2009.
During a recent interview with NY Daily News, Wendy explained that had she not changed over the years, she probably wouldn't be where she is today:
"I couldn't imagine myself doing the kind of radio that I used to do right now at this particular point in my life.
"This show is perfect for me because I'm able to be a woman and I'm able to be a girl and I'm able to be silly and I can leave here with my dignity -- most days."
According to Williams, what separates the her of today from the Wendy of yesteryear is the restraint that she has required in dealing with her celebrity guests personal taboo topics:
"It's no secret when celebrities are booked on shows there are times off-limit topics and when they let my producer know, then I respect that.
"Radio Wendy wouldn't. I would just continue on, but you know I've grown.
"I understand how to play by the rules and I won't ask about that topic."
No wonder than that Wendy took such offence at what she perceived as an inappropriate slight from Billy Bob Thornton towards his ex-wife in her latest February 2, contribution to Life & Style Magazine:
"Billy bob Thornton revealed in a recent interview that it's been his lifelong goal to sleep with Jennifer Aniston. Um, excuse me?
"This is an obvious dig at his ex-wife Angelina Jolie."
According to Wendy the real reason that Billy Bob's remarks were unacceptable had to do with award season -- not their marriage:
"This mean comment just adds insult to injury, since Angie has to deal with the fact that her movie, Unbroken, was snubbed at the Golden Globes while her rival -- and ex-wife of her hubby, Brad Pitt -- Jen got a nomination for her role in Cake.
"This is downright rude. Billy Bob is a jerk and shouldn't be kicking Angelina while she's down!"
Well...maybe Angelina should have just cast Billy Bob in her movie like Antonio Banderas did with Melanie Griffith.
