‘Dr Who’ David Tennant Cast As Villain Purple Man In Marvel’s ‘Jessica Jones’ with ‘Breaking Bad’ and 'Gossip Girl’s' Krysten Ritter [NETFLIX]

The cast of, Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series, A.K.A. Jessica Jones is getting bigger and bigger. It was recently announced that former Dr Who star David Tennant (Gracepoint/Broadchruch) has been cast to play the villainous Zebediah Killgrave, A.K.A. The Purple Man. Joining Tennant is Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad, Gossip Girl) as the titular heroine, and Mike Colter as the hero for hire, Luke Cage.

David Tennant is about to add one more feather in his geek hat. The Dr. Who star and all around nerd icon has joined the cast of Marvel and Netflix’s new show A.K.A. Jessica Jones.

The Purple Man has to power control others who are close to him. This makes David Tennant to second Dr. Who actor to play a Marvel villain, behind Christopher Eccleston's Malekith in Thor 2: The Dark World.

Executive Producer/Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb released a statement to the press about Tennant’s casting (via Marvel.com):

“Anyone familiar with David's work knows he brings an incredible level of dedication to any role he inhabits, a level we knew we would need from the man playing Kilgrave. While most know him for his roles as a hero, we can’t wait to unleash a whole new side of this talented actor.”
