‘Divergent’ Shailene Woodley and Boyfriend Theo James Dating ‘Allegiance’ Death Rumors [NEWS SPOILERS]

Fans of the Divergent franchise sometimes seem to have a hard time separating rumor from reality. Moments after the sex scene from the Insurgent trailer went viral, Veronica Roth devotees were once again swearing that the Shailene Woodley and Theo James were dating, despite the fact that has never been the case. Not only has the Fault in Our Star Instagram bikini model said to be dating Hawaiian folk singer Nahko Bear, her Underworld boyfriend has been seeing his girlfriend, Ruth Kearney, for years. Now, some the trilogy's fans are even actively campaigning to have Roth rewrite the ending for the Allegiance movie so their heroes can avoid the deaths that have already been assigned them.

Whereas most true blue fans of any author usually regard the works as sacrosanct, a few followers of the Divergent trilogy are begging Veronica Roth to please change the ending of the final movie in the series from the original in the Allegiance novel.

According to the petition on change.org, the disgruntled readers aren't demanding that she change the theatrical version -- only that they add a happily ever after cut to eventual Blu-ray extras:

"This would be the chance for the fans who weren't pleased with Tris' death in Allegiant to have the ending they want, the ending Tris and Four deserve -- to be together, happily, alive."

Even though it is pretty unusual for the fans of a work to actively petition the author to change it into something more palatable for the masses, Roth claimed to understand where the readers were coming from in her blog (via Design & Trend):

"I understand being upset about the loss of a character you care about, and I am so glad you care about her, because I do, too.

"I am proud of the way this ending mirrors those of the other books, of the way it reflects the realistic (given the dystopian, dangerous setting) losses of those books, the way it shows what Tris is truly made of, and the way it concludes her hard-earned transformation.

"I have heard a wide range of reactions to the book, and I accept and respect all of those reactions as valid. But my personal feelings about the ending haven't changed."

Why not a petition to add a mustache to the Mona Lisa or a pair of trousers of Michelangelo's David while you're at it?
