No Need for Drugs: Jeff Bridges Announces Upcoming LP 'Sleeping Tapes' as Narrated by The Dude Himself

Put the melatonin to the side and get a new sleep remedy for Jeff Bridges has announced an upcoming album that will help you achieve REM. The Dude is releasing an album called "Jeff Bridges Sleeping Tapes," and it's out for your sleeping pleasure.

His LP is a collection of music and sounds, accompanied by his sultry voice, which is designed to help get you to sleep without the aid of drugs. A two-parter, the disc features Bridges narrating over ambient sounds and field recordings. There will also be guided meditations.

The album was recorded at Playback Studios in Santa Barbara, California with composer Keefus Ciancia (True Detective, Nashville). Together the duo wrote the music and Grammy Award-winning sound mastering engineer Doug Sax laid down the final touches.

Bridges spoke with Speakeasy at The Wall Street Journal about the release saying, "While working on the Sleeping Tapes album we put in some long hours."

He continues, "Listening back to our day's works, I'd often drift off. I'd wake up and smile saying, 'This stuff works.'"

For the album's release, Bridges collaborated with Squarespace on a new website entitled "dreamingwithjeff.com" and is making the composition a "pay-what-you-want" download. And as you would expect from The Dude, there will be a limited run of cassette tapes and vinyl editions.

The proceeds, too, will be donated to the Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign, a charity for whom he is the national spokesperson.

Bridges is 65 years old and won an Oscar in 2009 for playing the drunk country star in Crazy Heart and has released two singer-songwriter albums in the past.

Until then, here he is below.
