Unfortunately for Grey's Anatomy Season 11 cast member Patrick Dempsey it's not just his TV show marriage that is falling apart in 2015. According to the latest gossip news updates, the part-time race car driver is getting a divorce from his wife, Jillian Fink, after 15-years together. In a recent spoilers report, showrunner Shonda Rimes admitted that McDreamy's relationship with Meredith, played by Ellen Pompeo, is in just as much danger of dissolving in the series.
In an instance of life imitating art, Grey's Anatomy veteran actor, Patrick Dempsey, is having to deal with his real-life marriage failing just as things in his charters personal life seem destined to enter an irrecoverable tailspin.
A source with all the behind-the-scenes deets claims in the February 9, issue of Star Magazine, that if Patrick didn't see this thing coming from a mile away it's because he had been purposefully ignoring it for years:
"Patrick and Jillian have had issue for years, a lot of which were caused by him.
"Jillian tried to tell him how unhappy she was, but he ignored her.
"He made it clear that he provided her a great life with financial stability and that he felt like he did his part."
While Shonda Rimes, no doubt, feels bad for Patrick's troubles, the queen of Shondaland recently explained to The Hollywood Reporter that given enough time even a couple as strong as Derek and Meredith can grow a part:
"Meredith is trying really hard, and I think fans should be worried about them because whenever people grow in different directions, that makes it much more difficult.
"For Meredith, this journey is really about her coming into her own as a surgeon, figuring out who she is and who she wants to be, standing on her own two feet and trying to be her own person for the first time without the support of Cristina (Sandra Oh) and without the support of Derek."
Let's just hope that Derek and Meredith will be able to get a head of their split and work things out in a way that Patrick and Killian were not.
