Winifred Haun & Dancers Bring Back Acclaimed Production of 'Promise,' Based on John Steinbeck's 'East of Eden'

The acclaimed dance production Promise by Winifred Haun & Dancers will be returning to the stage in March at the Ruth Page Center in Chicago. Promise features a cast of more than 20 dancers and was based on the novel East of Eden by John Steinbeck.

The show incorporates aerial straps combined with modern dance to tell the story of violence and redepemtion.

Company rehearsal director Zada Cheeks, will perform the lead male role of Adam, and company dancer Ariel Dorsey will dance the lead female role of Cathy. Newcomer April Falcon will dance the second female lead and Timothy Bowser and Jesse Hoisington will dance the roles of twins Cal and Aaron.

The music of George Crumb, Jolie Holland, Maki Ishii and Loudon Wainwright III and Kanye West are featured in the sound design for Promise. As a special treat, choreographer and stilt artist Kristina Isabelle will open the Friday night performance, performing her new color for stilts.
