When Heath Leger was preparing for his role as the Joker it was said that it took him to a lot of dark places, and now it seems that the iconic Batman role may be doing to same thing to Jared Leto. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Suicide Squad movie cast member had a mysterious and unexplained meltdown at Katsuya restaurant last month -- ranting and raving to the point of scaring paying customers. Hopefully the rumors will prove to be as exaggerated as the reports that the 30 Seconds to Mars singer was dating 12 Years a Slave starlet, Lupita Nyong'o. Word has it that the 31-year-old actress certainly is good friends with the Dallas Buyer's Club Oscar winner, but the Latin Instagram model s in no way Leto's new girlfriend.
Fellow 2014 Oscar winners Jared Leto and Lupita Nyong'o only further fueled the rumors that they were secretly dating by appearing so lovey dovey at the year's Screen Actors Guild Awards.
A source close to the pair told Hollywood Life that although Jared and Lupita were close, those stories blew things way out of proportion:
"Jared and Lupita are super-super close and really good friends.
"It definitely could have been looked at as a major flirt fest but they are so close from spending so much time in last year's award season that they just started from where they left off, the affection comes from a friendly place and not a budding relationship.
"They are not dating."
Given the recent reports regarding Leto's erratic behavior it is pretty understandable if Lupita really doesn't want to take her friendship with Jared to the next level.
An eyewitness to the 30 Second to Mars frontman's January 31 meltdown at Katsuya restaurant in L.A. told OK! Magazine that a seemingly exasperated Leto was acting so out of sorts that it actually scared some of the other patrons.
According to magazine's February 23, issue Leto burst into the eatery like a drug addled homeless man running from imaginary CIA greys:
"Jared was sweating and couldn't get his words out fast enough, as if someone were chasing him.
"The staff explained that it would take a few minutes to seat him, but he started yelling, 'No, you don't understand! There are people watching me!'
The source goes on to explain that Jared waved away an offer to wait in a private room only to pace around like a mad man until whatever fit he seemed to be having carried him back from whence he came:
"Jared just kept repeating 'You don't understand! You don't understand! They are right there!'
"It was like he was having a nervous breakdown or something.
"He only left after he realized that he scared one of the diners."
It's kind of hard to believe that Lupita wouldn't want to spend a romantic evening with a man like that.
