Yves Saint Laurent's Joni Mitchell Talks 'Don Juan's Reckless Daughter' and Her 'Affinity for Black Men'

After having a Saint Laurent fashion moment, Joni Mitchell has come out saying that she feels an "affinity" for black men, as she has "experienced being a black guy on several occasions." Not to be taken out of context, this mainly references her 1977 album cover, which featured her in black face.

The album, Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, isn't meant to be any kind of racist tribute, either. On the contrary, the comment was made with the most equal of intentions.

She said to Rolling Stone, "When I see black men sitting, I have a tendency to go — like I nod like I'm a brother. I really feel an affinity because I have experienced being a black guy on several occasions."

Commenting further on her appearance in black face at the photo shoot, she recounted how she wanted to surprise the photographer who had been irritating her, "I could do the makeup in about four minutes, and then I step out of the curtain."

She continued, "I just stood there 'til they noticed me. I walked really showily, going, 'Heh heh heh.' It was a great revenge. That was all to get his ass. To freak him out. I had to keep him on the defensive."

And at 71 years old, the folk superstar and '60s icon is still reigning supreme with a rumored biopic also in on the horizon. Taylor Swift was also rumored to star as Mitchell, in which case Joni said "good luck."

But until then, keep up with her below.
