It looks like Michael Strahan's loss is going to be Nick Cannon's gain. According to the latest gossip news updates, Mariah Carey's soon-to-be ex-husband is said to be dating the Good Morning America co-hosts former-fiancé, in addition to reportedly seeing actress Nicole Scherzinger. The "Hero" singer is said to be on the verge of a mental breakdown in the meantime -- buckling under the pressure of a failed marriage and impending Las Vegas residency. Whatever is really going on behind closed doors, the America's Got Talent host's reputation seems to be soaring, while his wife's is taking a beating both personally and professionally.
Let's hope for Nick Cannon's sake that Michael Strahan is neither the violent nor vindictive type.
Word has it that the Wild N' Out star spent a very romantic evening with the ex-Mrs. Eddie Murphy at an uptown Tavern on the Green this Valentine's Day.
Nick had previously been linked to Nicole Scherzinger, but an eyewitness to their magical night out told Us Magazine that Cannon and Murphy were so deep in conversation during their dinner that they didn't even notice when one of Mariah's songs started to play:
"They were too into each other to pay attention -- they held hands from across the table gazing at each other throughout their meal.
"They would honestly be perfect for each other...dressed up and laughing a lot together."
Mariah Carey on the other hand, not only seemingly spent her Valentine's Day without someone there to hold her hand while they pretended Nick doesn't exist, a source close to the diva claimed in the February 23, issue of Star that the all the heartache is starting to drive her batty again:
"She's extremely emotional and cries uncontrollably...she's gone off the deep end.
"She still loves Nick but knows he's gone...she feels like she's directionless and not in control of her life."
According to the insider, Carey can't even find solace in the fact that she landed a lucrative Las Vegas run that should solidify her status as a world class singer along with her bank account:
"She panicking that she's doomed and is terrified she won't be able to live up to the hype of her upcoming Las Vergas residency.
"Someone needs to stage an intervention before there is a repeat of 2001 or worse."
Who would have thought that Nick Cannon was the only thing keeping Mariah Carey from completeling losing it all these years?
