Jazz Bassist Jennifer Leitham and Bruce Jenner Finally Comfortable in Their Own Skin

Among the pop culture fixation with Bruce Jenner and his sex change, there seems to be an unhealthy obsession with those who are uncomfortable in their own skin. For Jennifer Leitham (née John Leitham) that kind of scrutiny is still as omnipotent as ever.

As Andrea Peyser points out in the New York Post, the realization that a long time friend, Leitham, had changed identities seemingly over night was a "seismic shift." Not that the realization should be that much of a shock, Peyser (for whatever reason) didn't speak with the now-Jennifer for several years.

Not surprising of the Post to stick to the right and feel "put off" by any kind of sexual appropriation. Nonetheless, the public seems to have a problem grasping the concept of the "sex-change."

"I'm still the same person I always was," Leitham tried to assure Peyser. "You don't just undergo the operation and become a woman. I've always been a woman. I've been a woman from the moment I was born."

The Post also points out that Jenner was involved in a fatal car accident earlier that claimed one of the drivers he hit. And Jenner is set to discuss the transition on the E! reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

While Jenner may be trying to advocate an inevitable norm, it's taking the public a surprisingly slow time to adapt to the change. Leitham, to continue, was fired from a job after the change and lost most of her friends.

But, regardless, Jennifer, along with Jenner, don't regret the change a day in their lives.

As they shouldn't.

Until then, check out an amazing band whose front man (woman) also underwent a sex change: Against Me!
