Dan Aykroyd Talks ‘Ghostbusters 3:’ Supports Paul Feig All Female Reboot with Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones & Melissa McCarthy

The upcoming all-female reboot of The Ghostbusters franchise is getting a lot of attention these days. Many fans, like this one, praised Paul Feig’s casting of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. However, there are some who are firmly against the new reboot, because of they feel that girls can't bust ghost and other sexist nonsense. Maybe the raging river of slime can be calmed by original Ghostbusters star and writer, Dan Aykroyd, also know as, Ray Stanz. Recently, Aykroyd threw his support behind the new film. He even went on to add that he still has high hopes for a direct second sequel, Ghostbusters 3.

Dan Aykroyd recently appeared as a guest on Sirius XM’s Unmasked with Ron Bennington, where he revealed that he still has hopes for a third film (via The Interro Bang):

“There’s three drafts of the old concept that exists. And we’re going to be able to salvage some of it and use it. Yeah, we’re gonna be able to use it some day. Let’s get this one made and that will reinvigorate the franchise and then we’ll go on to maybe doing a more conventional third sequel as we were planning and another idea I have for it.”

Aykroyd went on to add that he fully supports the all new all female cast, saying:

“I’ve got three daughters, so I’m all for female empowerment. [Feig] establishes the voices beautifully in these characters. Now of course, he’s got masters playing the roles for him, so this is going to really work in our favour for the third movie.”
