Jameis Winston Considered by Tampa Bay for No. 1 NFL Draft Pick After Impressive Combine Performance

Jameis Winston has proven time and time again that he has what it takes to pursue a career in the NFL. Now, reports are saying that the Seminoles' star might continue to play football in Florida. Apparently, he had a meeting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two short months before the draft. This has analysts convinced that Winston is being heavily considered for their number one draft pick. Also, his impressive performance at the NFL Combine further underlined his potential as a first overall pick.

As most of you know, Winston was the first freshman to ever be awarded the prestigious Heisman Trophy. After that, he continued to lead his Florida State Seminoles on the road to success.

After all, he was more than a contribution to the Seminoles' victory at the 2014 BCS National Championship Game. However, Winston's reputation was called into question after he was accused of sexual assault.

Shockingly, all that seems to be forgiven, as TMZ Sports reports that his chances at the pros haven't been hurt:

"Jameis Winston [said] that it would be 'great' to play for an NFL team in Florida...this just days after he wrapped up a meeting with the Tampa Bay Bucs...The Heisman Trophy winner landed in New York Wednesday...and with the NFL Draft just 2 months away, we had to ask the possible #1 pick if he had a preference on which team calls his name...Winston didn't exactly give anything away..."

When discussing the draft, Winston's name has always been near the top of everyone's list. According to Business Insider, though, his performance at the NFL Combine solidified his place as number one:

"The consensus is that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will take Jameis Winston with the No. 1 pick in this year's NFL draft after Winston recorded an excellent performance at the NFL combine...the combine is a pre-draft camp in which prospects perform drills in front of NFL scouts...Winston is not a very good raw athlete. He was never going to run fast or jump high at the combine. But he excelled in two areas that matter: the interviews and the throwing session..."
