New iPhone 6 Details: Release Date, OS, Features and Rumors 2013 [UPDATE]

Apple plans on releasing the new iPhone 6 in 2013. We'll guide you through the rumors, discuss the upcoming release date and break down the features of the upcoming OS.

Let's begin with the release date. If history is any indication, the tech giant will be releasing their upcoming iPhone in the fall of this year. Many analysts believe that the official launch will occur sometime in September. Others argue that the 5S version will be released in August and the iPhone 6 will not become available until 2014. That doesn't really seem to make sense, however, considering they would lose out on a ton of Christmas sales.

One thing that analysts can seem to agree upon is what operating system will be loaded onto the device. Nearly every tech-review blog, and more credible outlets, claim that the phone will be pre-loaded with iOS 7, Apple's newest venture into the world of mobile operating systems.

While many of the changes will lie in how the OS functions, there will also be edits to how the OS displays your information. Not only will Apple be redesigning the appearance of icons (as verified by beta testers), it will also be incorporating a transparent element within their apps. That means users can be engaged with one function and still view alerts and actions behind the app.

Many new features will be added to the upcoming device...the first of which is Air Drop. This application will allow users to share app data with other users in the area, similar to the way Galaxy users can exchange data by "bumping" their phones together. With Apple's new system, however, users won't need to touch their phones to transfer info.

Another impressive feature will be the Control Center, as Tech Radar reports:

"Control Center is one of the big ones; swiping up from anywhere on your iPhone or iPad will bring up the new hub for loads of control throughout the device. This means you can control music, screen brightness, turning off the radios and even flicking on the flashlight for when you need to stalk around a house in the dark."

That added functionality will mean a lot to users who love to customize their devices. But, speed is also a major factor for consumers. It appears that Apple will have a leg up in that competition as well.

Reports recently circulated in South Korea which suggest that the phone will be much faster than its predecessors. Multiple media outlets are suggesting that the new phone will be capable of downloading data at a rate of 150Mbps. That is twice what the current LTE structure allows.

That rumor was started by Engadget, a company that has historically scooped the competition when it comes to breaking news about Apple products. According to their reporting, a South Korean company has been in talks with incorporating their advanced LTE-A technology within upcoming iPhone models. A rep from that company, SK Telecom, commented to the news org:

"SK Telecom is approaching Apple to put our LTE-A technology on the upcoming iPhone 5S. We are in the middle of negotiations. Consumers can expect the iPhone 5S with LTE-A in the coming months."

As with all upcoming Apple products, Tim Cook and team have refused to comment on any of the devices’ features...including price. Stay tuned, as we will be posting new information as it becomes available.
