LeAnn Rimes Affair with Being Bullied, Rehab and a Near Death Experience

LeAnn Rimes, country music superstar, has had her share of being bullied. The singer recently spoke with media outlets about her stint in rehab (following affair accusations) and a near death experience in public school.

LeAnn Rimes has become the face of anti-bullying. At a charity event to raise awareness, LeAnn spoke to Entertainment Tonight, where she told reporters about a terrifying experience she had in the sixth grade:

"I was bullied when I was a kid--when I was in junior high. A lot of girls can get real mean during the sixth grade year. I used to perform around Dallas and Texas where I lived, a lot. My principal would put something on the bulletin board if I was in the newspaper or something, and there was this clique of girls that did not like it. So, I had my locker egged, I had a girl bring a knife to school the last day of sixth grade and tried to kill me! Awesome. So, I'd say I was bullied a little."

In addition to these real world threats, LeAnn has experienced her share of online bullying. Shortly after her 30th birthday, Mrs. Rimes had to check into rehab. Instead of drugs or alcohol, it was the stress induced from cyber-bullying that lead the celebrity to seek help:

"This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be.”

Following her treatment, LeAnn seems to be faring much better, as she tells Katie Couric:

"I think it's really hard to deal with Twitter and Facebook...and it's hard to take it day after day of reading and seeing things that someone you don't even know says about you. As much as you said you don't want it to penetrate, it does, because you're human. Everyone has an opinion of how I am and how I should be, and now I'm focusing on how I want to be."
