‘Jinx’ Robert Durst Attorney Ready For Trial After Andrew Jarecki HBO Film & Murder Confession & Arrest? [UPDATE]

Andrew Jarecki’s HBO documentary, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst
helped lead to the arrest of Robert Durst, thanks to what seems like a confession of murder at the end. However, Durst attorney thinks that he can free his client at trial, despite the high profile arrest.

Robert Durst’s attorney, Dick DeGuerin, who successfully defended him in the Morris Black murder trial, recently spoke to CNN about Durst’s health, referencing his previous brain surgery:

"At the same time he was in the hospital he had an operation on his esophagus to remove cancer. So he's got some serious health issues. ... He's lost a lot of weight. He's not in good health."

Deguerin also went to claim that his client is autistic, which he purposes, explains away some of his “bizarre behavior:”

"He's quiet and he's reserved and he's actually bashful. But he's always been looked upon as a little bit odd. And what we discovered 15 years ago was that he's autistic, mildly autistic, but it explains a lot of his, what others look upon as unusual or bizarre behavior."

However, Deguerin insist that Durst is capable of standing trial, adding:

"He's a little frail and he has some memory problems sometimes. But he's not incompetent."

DeGuerin seems very confident that he will be able to clear Durst’s name this time around:

"I just don't think that they had sufficient evidence to have him arrested. They had a lot of suspicion. They've always had a lot of suspicion. And that television show just added to that suspicion."
