Scientologists Tom Cruise and John Travolta Gay Rumors Wane Over Abuse Allegations, New Movies?

Scientologists Tom Cruise and John Travolta were featured in the tabloids again this week over decades-old gay rumors, however, those laughable reports quickly took a backseat. Unfortunately, the headlines have been replaced with abuse allegations aimed at the Mission Impossible star. Things appear to be going a bit smoother for Mr. Travolta, however, as a teaser for his upcoming film has fans clamoring to see his latest flick.

Tom Cruise isn't just the biggest actor in the world, he's also the most famous Scientologist on Planet Earth.

So, it should come as no surprise that Mr. Cruise has come under a significant amount of scrutiny, especially after HBO's newest documentary, Going Clear, began screening.

The documentary, which the Church of Scientology has aggressively criticized, was headed by Alex Gibney.

Mr. Gibney has some fairly harsh words for Tom Cruise, who he claims has turned a blind eye to alleged church abuse, as Huffington Post tells readers:

"'Cruise is the big kahuna and that's why we've gone to the trouble of calling him out,' Gibney said at an HBO screening of Going Clear on Monday night. 'We believe that he has a responsibility to say something about the abuse.'"

Luckily, Mr. Cruise's longtime pal and fellow Scientologist John Travolta appears to be fairing much better. His new film, The Forger, will hit theatres on April, 24.

In case you're not up to speed, Coming Soon has released a synopsis of the film, which will release both in theaters and On Demand simultaneously:

"In the film, the world's best art forger (John Travolta) makes a deal with a crime syndicate to get an early release from prison, but in return he must pull of an impossible heist - he must forge a painting by Claude Monet, steal the original from a museum and replace it with a replica so perfect that no one will notice. He enlists the help of his father (Christopher Plummer) and son (Tye Sheridan) and together they plan the heist of their lives!"
