‘Captain America’s’ Howard Stark Dominic Cooper Cast as Lead In Seth Rogen’s ‘Preacher’ on AMC

Captain America’s own Howard Stark actor, Dominic Cooper has just landed himself another comic book role. After playing the charismatic father of Iron Man Tony Stark in Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger and ABC’s Agent Carter, Cooper has been cast as the lead character, Jesse Custer, in AMC’s upcoming adaptation of Preacher. The show will be exec produced by the Superbad team of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

Variety is reporting on a statement released by, AMC’s exec VP of original programming, production and digital content, Joel Stillerman, reading:

“Every once in a while you find a project where all the elements line up beautifully. With ‘Preacher,’ it starts with a bold, compelling, and thought-provoking comicbook series from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon and a whole lot of fans who already know Jesse Custer, Cassidy, and Tulip. Add to that the passionate and talented Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin, an incredible producing team in Neal Moritz, the Original Film team and our good friends at Sony Pictures Television, and we have everything we need to be very excited to move forward on ‘Preacher.’”

After it was announced the Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were working on the series, the duo released a joint statement to the press:

"This is amazing! We've tried for seven years to work on Preacher and we're so psyched AMC is finally letting us. It is our favorite comic of all time, and we're going to do everything we can to do it right. Humperdoo!"
