Scott Thorson, Liberace's bitter ex and author of Behind the Candelabra, found himself in yet another courtroom on Thursday. Facing nine to twenty years in prison, Thorson received some welcome news from both the judge and the Bunny Ranch brothel.
So, how does a brothel factor in to the equation? Well, the owner of the Bunny Ranch brothel happens to be a huge fan of HBO and once had a show on the network. Dennis Hof, owner and manager, also bailed Thorson out--paying nearly $15,000.
That's not all. He is letting Scott live in his guest house while the author recovers from drug addiction and colon cancer. Not to mention, he gave him a job working at the brothel.
Of course, their connection goes even further as Dennis and the Bunny Ranch is responsible for drug testing Mr. Thorson. Scott's attorney, David Houston, thinks this makes total sense, telling the judge:
“What the state fails to appreciate is the license of that brothel is dependent upon keeping everyone drug free. I cannot think of any other business that has a more vested interest in making sure people are following the law. As a consequence, I would trust her drug testing over most others simply because it means so much and she is so experienced in sorting through the B.S. to get to the truth."
Somewhat shockingly, the judge agreed. If Mr. Thorson messes up, however, he will still face his original sentence of nine to twenty years.
Scott made national news headlines...again...for his interview with Howard Stern. During the q and a session, Thorson claimed that he had sex with Michael Jackons. That wasn't all, either. Scott also alleged that Liberace knowingly gave four young boys AIDS:
"He said he was on a watermelon diet. He contacted me three times to ask if my health was fine. So, I went to a doctor that straight out lied to me. Then one day Liberace called and sent a plane to take me to one of his shows. He told me then."
