Rumors are circulating that Denzel Washington has been cheating on his longtime wife. Over the weekend, some gossip magazines claim that he is facing a million dollar divorce. Is this anything more than speculation?
Denzel Washington, legendary stage and film actor, has been having a terrible month. The trouble began when Radar Online revealed that there are pictures of Mr. Washington and a blonde bombshell making out. The online magazine passed on purchasing the photos and said they failed to authenticate them.
Mr. Washington's camp has finally responded to the outrageous claims. His representative said, “They are not divorcing, not separating.”
Still, other news outlets (mostly, Star) are claiming that the pair are headed for a multi-million dollar divorce settlement and that his wife has left him, headed for New York.
Washington and his wife, Pauletta have been married now for over 30 years. The pair seem quite enamored with each other, even three decades later. In a recent interview with Ebony magazine, Mrs. Washington commented on her and Denzel's long relationship:
“I live with this man," she said. "I see the down part. I see the sad part. I see every part. He has and knows he has stability in me as his wife. That’s what gives him strength, regardless if he misuses it…I can’t dwell on that. But I do know that gives him a great platform to go and fly.”
It's not the first time that Denzel has been plagued with scandal. In 2003, it was alleged that Mr. Washington was having an extramarital affair with a costar.
Denzel was accused of sleeping with Sanaa Latham, his opposite in Out of Time. Though both actors denied any involvement, it was enough to tarnish the up-until-then flawless reputation of Mr. Washington.
Reps deny that Mr Washington will be getting divorced, however, sources close to the pair claim that Mrs. Washington is leaving for New York.
