Joni Mitchell Hospitalized, Found Unconscious in Her L.A. Home Statement Says

Last month, Joni Mitchell was reportedly hospitalized after being found unconscious and unresponsive in her L.A. home. As of late, these claims have been denied. Mitchell's reps have posted an update of the singer's ongoing health issues to her website on Tuesday (April 28). TMZ and the Associated Press claim that Mitchell's longtime friend, Leslie Morris, is seeking to be named the conservator to the musician, according to a court filing.

A statement on JoniMitchell.com reads: "Contrary to rumors circulating on the Internet today, Joni is not in a coma."

It continues: "Joni is still in the hospital — but she comprehends, she's alert, and she has her full senses. A full recovery is expected."

According to the court filing, their was also a declaration from a doctor, claiming that the 71-year-old folkie will likely be unable to attend any court hearings for the several months.

The official statement says: "The document obtained by a certain media outlet simply gives her longtime friend Leslie Morris the authority — in the absence of 24-hour doctor care — to make care decisions for Joni once she leaves the hospital. As we all know, Joni is a strong-willed woman and is nowhere near giving up the fight. Please continue to keep Joni in your thoughts."

Mitchell was hospitalized at the UCLA Medical Center on March 31 after being found unconscious in her home in L.A. In early April, a message surfaced on her website saying she was resting comfortable and improving.

It's also been noted that Mitchell told Billboard in December that she had a debilitating skin condition called Morgellons Disease that has rendered her unable to play.

Our thoughts are with Ms. Mitchell who we hope makes her way to a speedy recovery.

Keep up with her below in the meantime.
