While the media has been more than happy to discuss condiment king Nick Loeb's attempts at forcing his former fiancé, Sofia Vergara, into allowing him to birth and raise the embryos they had fertilized and frozen during their time together all by himself, the Modern Family sex-symbol has been silent until now. According to the latest gossip news updates, Sofia insists that her ex-boyfriend never raised any of the concerns he's now expressing in his New York Times op-ed when they signed the legally binding fertility contract, not once, but twice. The Columbian Instagram bikini model recently told Howard Stern that she and husband-to-be, Joe Manganiello, are so unconcerned by the frivolous lawsuit that they almost never even bother to talk about -- leaving such unpleasant discussion to the lawyers instead.
Nick Loeb can insist that he's a pseudo-Catholic now obsessed with the keeping their embryos frozen in tantamount to an abortion all he wants, but Sofia Vergara explained to Howard Stern that he didn't seem to hold only of those very complicated beliefs when they were a couple.
The 42-year-old heart throb explained onthe Sirius XM DJ's talk show that the whole reason people sign contracts is so the other party can't have a crisis on conscious a few days down the line and start imposing all sorts of new demands (via Us Weekly):
"You sign papers
"If it was so serious for him, this issue, which I totally respect because it's serious.
"Then you should've taken it more seriously at the time. There is a contract....We did it two times.
"And now you want to change your mind?!...You have to follow what you sign!"
If Nick was secretly hoping that the legal battle would sow tension between Sofia and the new love of her life, Joe Manganiello, ultimately resulting in their breakup; Vergara insists it has had the opposite effect:
"Joe and I try not to even talk about it.
"We have lawyers. We're having so much fun right now.
"We just moved into a new house. We're planning a wedding."
As head over heels as the Modern Family beauty is with her Magic Mike boyfriend, she explained to Ellen DeGeneres that she almost passed up her chance to start a relationship with Manganiello, because the breakup with Loeb had left her so drained and she was afraid the True Blood werewolf might be a bit of a diva before she got to know him (via People):
"I had just finished a relationship...he seemed like a lot of work because [he's] so handsome and younger than me and so sexy and best bachelor or whatever he was.
"And I'm like, 'Ugh.' Just too much!"
Fortunately for Sofia, Joe just isn't the kind of guy that takes no for an answer:
"He flew to New Orleans and forced me on a date. And then...we click"
Let's hope that Nick Loeb will one day find someone that wants to have his baby instead of trying to make a federal case out of the fact that Sofia Vergara wants to marry someone else.
