The official Mega Millions lottery website is reporting on the recent winner of a $1 million smaller scale prize, who played it cool:
‘May 5, 2015 - The $1 million Mega Millions cash prize in the April 28 drawing has been claimed by a Wichita resident! The lucky winner, who wished to remain anonymous, matched the first five numbers, but not the Megaball, on a $5 Quick Pick ticket.
“‘I only buy lottery tickets a couple of times each month,’ explained the winner. ‘I seldom check my tickets after a drawing. I wait until I get a big stack of them before I check them on the Kansas Lottery’s website. On Sunday, I had 10 to 15 tickets I needed to check. When I checked one of my Mega Millions tickets, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, so I checked it again and got the same results. I immediately jumped up and signed the back of the ticket.’
“After signing the back of the winning ticket, the 59-year-old shared the good news with his wife.”
