Tiger Woods has had his share of high profile relationships in the past. While the golfer has had infidelity issues with other prior companions, the relationship between him and world class skier Lindsey Vonn seemed to stabilize the pair and be truly genuine. Then came the breakup scandal that shocked the sports community. Tiger took to the press and has exposed his shock of the breakup, with Vonn hurting silently and letting her social media accounts do the talking for her.
Woods was formerly married to Elin Nordegren, with whom he had an affair. The public outcry that came from his cheating has caused doubt now about his current and future relationships. Even with that behind him, the golfing great still has sceptics, according to People:
'"I know everyone is hoping for a cheating scandal, but it's not,' says a member of Woods' circle. 'There was no real drama."'
The timing of the breakup was during a difficult moment of the year for Woods, with the anniversary of his father's passing happening as well. Those events, combined, have made both golf and sleeping for Woods nearly impossible.
Vonn, on the other hand, seems to be moving forward with her private life and career. The Olympic hopeful attended an event to promote the next winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. While the reporters tried to have her express her feelings towards the press just like Woods, Vonn denied giving them any such soundbites, with UPI having her only statement as:
"I don't really want to talk about my personal life. I think I said everything in my Facebook post. I will just leave it at that."
With sources saying that there was no ill will between the two, the fact that both world class athletes are now healthy and busy seems to be the real reason that this sports super couple has called it quits. For now.
