While some actors -- like Miles Teller perhaps -- would be dying to get Veronica Roth's last Divergent book out of the way, Shailene Woodley and her onscreen boyfriend, Theo James, are excited to be breaking Allegiant up into two separate parts. According to that latest gossip news updates, that double feature format will give the franchise the opportunity to consolidate all the original plotlines with a few new things that were added in just for the movies.
According to the IBTimes, Lionsgate has already started production on Allegiant: Part 1 -- the first in a pair of films that will round out Veronica Roth's young adult Divergent series, about a teenage girl trying to fit into a post-apocalyptic world with her badass boyfriend by her side.
Although it could be looked at as unnecessary to break a single book into two films -- unless you're Peter Jackson of course -- Theo James explained to Collider that is allowed them to focus on making the most accurate translations of the novel but also freed up a little room to add a few new bits in where needed:
"Not huge [changes], no. I think they were able to consolidate with the third movie and kind of consolidate all the key elements of the book.
"I think it's going to be pretty similar. I think the luxury of this one is that we have time to tell the book over two movies so I think, if anything, it'll be the material in the book, but then added as well.
"There will be more stuff because we have more time to tell the story."
Shailene didn't get into all that when Entertainment Weekly first asked her about the decision to make the film in two-parts, but Woodley seemed to think that it was worth making as many movies as it was going to take to tell Roth's story to the best of their ability:
"I am excited...That's another year of kicking ass.
"I am honored to be Tris, and it is exciting.
"Divergent was a very fun film to make, and I worked with some great people."
It seems that Shailene will hardly have any time to spend with her supposed boyfriend, Nahko Bear, in Hawaii once she finishes filming, Snowden, before she has to jet off to start working with her Divergent boyfriend on Allegiant: Part 1, but such is the life of on of the hottest up-and-coming A-listers on the planet.
