Voldemort might be vanquished but J.K. Rowling still has some evil to battle. The Harry Potter author and self identified Christian, is squaring off against the Westboro Baptist “Church,” of her support of Ireland's decision to legalize gay marriage. Recently, Rowling said that Dumbledore and Gandalf should married in Ireland, sparking the hate group to rally against the writer.
The Westboro Baptist “Church” didn’t take to kindly to some of J.K. Rowling’s support of Gay marriage, tweeting:
“So @jk_rowling wants Dumbledore & Gandalf to marry in Ireland; if it happens, WBC will picket! #NotBanned @pinknews.”
However, Rowling was not about to let WBC have the last word, tweeting:
“@WBCsigns Alas, the sheer awesomeness of such a union in such a place would blow your tiny bigoted minds out of your thick sloping skulls.”
Some have pointed out that Rowling acconziging the WBC only gives them more attention, but Rowling is looking at the bigger picture:
“I don't care about WBC. I think it's important that scared gay kids who aren't out yet see hate speech challenged.”
