Adrian Peterson Welcomed Back by Vikings After Child Abuse Scandal, Retirement Rumors

The Minnesota Vikings are a complete team once again. The return to the Vikings of troubled star running back Adrian Peterson after his child abuse scandal of last year has the team on the rise, now having aspirations of a playoff berth. Peterson has been welcomed back after almost a year away from the game and offseason indications suggested he wanted to retire or play somewhere else.

Peterson has served his punishment and is being accountable for his actions. The Star Tribune was on hand for Peterson's first press conference back, where he acknowledged his past transgressions:

"I made a mistake, and I know a lot of people don't view it that way based off what they saw, but ultimately that's what it was. My son knows that. He knows that I love him, and my other kids know the same."

With being in the organization for eight years, the Minnesota Vikings understand Peterson is a good man that made a mistake. The Pioneer Press tells of the Vikings recent press conference that mentioned the goodwill Peterson and the team have done throughout the community:

"As an organization our philosophy is to promote the team concept, which includes highlighting many of the individuals who make up our roster. We are fortunate that we have a large number of players who are contributors in the community and willing participants in the team's civic and marketing efforts. Adrian certainly has been one of those individuals over the last eight years, and he has also taken a very active role in his own community involvement, both publicized and unpublicized. He will continue to be an important piece of the Vikings community and fan outreach moving forward."
