Colorado Rockies Looking to Trade All-Star Troy Tulowitzki to Help Rebuild?

The Colorado Rockies are in a difficult position. The organization is facing the possibility of having to trade away the face of their franchise to help restart the rebuilding process for the struggling club. Rumor has it the Rockies are looking to trade away All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and his massive contract to a contender for multiple high-end prospects.

Tulowitzki has so far played his entire career in Colorado, quickly becoming a fan favorite for his hard-nosed play in the field and at the plate. His multiple wins of Golden Gloves and Silver Slugger awards should help entice playoff-bound teams to take a look at a potential trade. The Coloradoan understands the Rockies' dilemma concerning the possibility of moving such a star:

"Despite saying he wants to stay in Colorado, Tulo should (and will) be traded before the trade deadline at the end of next month. It has to happen, for everyone's benefit, including his. The perennial All-Star deserves a chance to play for a ring. With the Rockies in a rebuilding phase, that's not likely to happen here in the near future."

Even with all of the benefits Tulowitzki can bring to a team, there are some concerns for his suitors. Tulowitzki has a giant contract he is still owed, and because of prior health issues and the ransom the Rockies are going to demand for their star, Rant Sports believes teams should be looking for other options:

"People are judging Tulowitzki on his past and assuming he will just make whatever team he goes to a contender. Not so fast. Due to his injury history, price tag and the amount of prospects required to acquire him, contending teams should steer clear of the Rockies' shortstop this trade deadline."

Do you think the Rockies should try and trade their homegrown star Troy Tulowitzki? Would the Rockies be a better team with an influx of young prospects instead of having one of the best shortstops in the league? Tell us your thoughts below.
