Jazz Age: IFC's Forthcoming Murder Mystery Series 'The Spoils Before Dying' Premieres July 8

If you're up-to-date on the Independent Film Channel's agenda, then perhaps you may understand the programming. As of late, IFC's latest upcoming series, The Spoils Before Dying, which features renowned actors Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell and more, toil in the musical vineyards of jazz, using the genre as a stomping ground for what appears to be a much anticipated period comedy.

Though not much has been revealed, it has been stated that the plot revolves around a jazz pianist who goes undercover to solve a murder investigation. But, as it's been "reported," that's just scratching the surface of the otherwise mysterious series.

Slated as the fictitious Eric Jonrosh's magnum opus, the author-turned-director has developed a film so shocking that an entire nation was destroyed to protect its public safety in light of it. However, one copy remained and on July 8, that specific issue will premier as a six-part saga on the IFC network.

And for you Classicalites, the show enters the jazz age, which should make for an interesting background to the narrative.

Starring in the controversial new "masterpiece" is Michael Kenneth Williams, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Haley Joel Osment, Michael Sheen, Tim Meadows, Kate McKinnon and more.

The series, also, is a follow up to The Spoils of Babylon, which also aired on IFC.

So while you await the cheesy backdrops and overacting, which complete the puzzle of mystery in this new show, check out the trailer below.
