Julia Roberts’ half sister, Nancy Motes, slams the world famous actress over her repeatedly nasty comments. The Pretty Woman star often teased her much younger sister over her weight, even when Julia had a successful acting career. Julia’s brother, Eric, agrees that his sister is one of the rudest people on Earth.
It was Julia’s relentless teasing that lead Nancy to seek surgical procedures in order to treat her excess weight. In an interview with New York’s Daily News, she explains that Julia’s constant berating is the reason she got gastric bypass, telling the publication:
“When I was in high school and she was an adult, she would let me know that I was definitely overweight. She would make it quite clear to me and in a not-so-nice manner.”
Despite all of the negative comments and attacks Julia made towards Nancy, she still served as a great inspiration. In fact, Julia was the reason Nancy decided to go into show business. Of course, Julia was never supportive and Nancy believes that:
“It was mostly because I was overweight. My weight has fluctuated my entire life. So i got a lot of criticism from Julia, which was very discouraging for me.”
After years of degradation, Nancy decided to do something about her weight. While she was once 300 lbs, Nancy slimmed down to 155, which has improved their relationship. Nancy went on to explain that:
“I think we’re both trying to change our opinions of each other. It’s a work in progress. It’s not going to be fixed overnight, nor do I think its going to be fixed just by me being skinny.”
Sounds like Julia should have starred in Petty Woman...not Pretty Woman.
