Kelly Ripa took time to show off her new 2013 hairstyle. She posted a photo standing next to Michael Strahan on Instagram, which shows her new bob look. Her husband and kids love her stylish haircut, but the same can’t be said for Ripa’s mother.
Well you can’t please everyone. Kelly Ripa now knows that better than anyone. She decided to spice things up over the Labor Day weekend and snip a few inches off of her iconic hairstyle.
While nearly the entire world agrees that her new look is fabulous, she does have one detractor--her own mother. And that was before her mom had even seen it, as the morning host recounted:
"Ahhh, why did you do that? It looks terrible!" Kelly quoted her mother as saying.
"You haven't seen it yet. How would you know? She goes, 'I don't need to see it to know I don't like it. You know I'm a long-hair girl,'" Kelly explained.
If you are one of the few people out there who doesn’t know who Kelly Ripa is, then we’ll take a moment to explain.
Kelly rose to popularity by becoming the co-host of Live With Regis and Kelly. Regis, of course, being Regis Philbin. Mr. Philbin adores Kelly and mentioned their start together in his book, How I Got This Way:

Hers was a natural, quick-witted, unaffected, confident, fun-loving kind of sparkle that bothGelman and I remembered very well. We decided to invite her back, this time to consider her as a possible co-host. So that was when this smiling, petite ball of fire named Kelly Ripa made her return to Live! for a test run at the rotating, up-for-grabs hot seat to my left. And my God, who knew what spontaneous combustion we'd make together?”
