Glee star Darren Criss is in talks to join Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Finn Wittrock, Angela Bassett, Matt Bomer and the rest of the star studded cast of American Horror Story for the upcoming fifth season. While Criss might be checking in the Hotel, his AHS co-star, Lady Gaga might soon be stepping into his old heels on Broadway. Gaga is one of John Cameron Mitchell’s dream picks to play the titular character in Hedwig and The Angry Inch.
Darren Criss could be coming coming to American Horror Story. The actor is said in talks to play a Silverlake hipster named Justin making his first appearance in the Halloween episode.
We don’t yet know if Criss will be playing a good guy or a bad guy, but we do know that the former will be in short supply. Dandy Mott actor Finn Wittrock recently spoke to E! about the ration of good vs evil this time around:
"There's not a whole lot of good guys, I won't say--I don't think I'm quite as malevolent as Dandy, but I'm definitely not a good guy."
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga might be the first woman to play the role of Hedwig on Broadway. Co-creator and original Hedwig actor John Cameron Mitchell recently opened up to Queerty about his dream cast for the show’s future:
“I’d love to see a woman. It would have to be the right woman. I think it wouldn’t have been right to start with a woman because of what it’s about. We are about artifice and it’s theater and we have a woman playing a man already. I think it works best when you have already had men playing the role so you can add this experience to it. It would have to be the right woman, just as it has to be the right man. I’d love to see Justin Timberlake do it and Lady Gaga. They’re people who have the skills who I don’t think have used them all at the same time in an emotionally substantial piece. They’ve acted well, sang and danced in good things, but this would be putting that all together in something that has a lot of weight to it dramatically.”
