Rumors have been flying that Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is gay or bi. While these claims are totally unfounded, Daniel will be playing gay icon, Allen Ginsberg, in the upcoming film Kill Your Darlings. Check out the video of the trailer, below.
Daniel Radcliffe has come a long way since the Harry Potter franchise. A lot of that time has been spent differentiating himself from the series.
First, he performed in the Broadway play Equus. The role required the 18-year-old actor to perform completely nude on stage. In addition to bearing it all, he also had to tackle some pretty heavy themes--like masturbation...and horse murder.
This role, too, seems like a daring choice that could land the actor an Academy Award. While he’s not gay, Radcliffe is comfortable portraying one on film. Daniel has long been a champion of gay rights, even getting defensive when interviewers ask him what it was like to play a gay man:
“You never see a gay actor getting asked what it’s like to play straight -- to my knowledge, at least, there is no difference in how heterosexual and homosexual people fall in love. I can see why people are skeptical about me playing Allen Ginsberg. I don’t look like him, and I’m English and middle-class and not from New Jersey. But that’s what I think is so exciting about it, because people have no idea.”
