It seems that we may have an explanation for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's recent marital woes -- it was just you typical case of life imitating art. According to the latest gossip news updates, Jolie drew such aggression out of her husband in their By the Sea fight scenes that it made the supporting cast and crew uncomfortable. Word has it that Pitt became so frustrated during the making of the movie that he started drinking to deal with the pressure of taking his wife's direction.
While it may seem a little odd to try to get you husband to channel his negative feelings about your relationship every time you go to work, that is exactly what Angelina Jolie says she did for By the Sea.
During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the Hollywood sex-symbol admitted that she purposefully tried to "draw" out Pitt's deep seeded resentments for the sake of the movie:
"I'd be directing myself and him in a scene where we're having a fight, and I'd be pulling out the parts [of him] that have an aggression toward me or when you're frustrated with each other -- it was very heavy."
Jolie went on to further explain that the tension was often so palpable on the set that everyone else also felt the weight of their strained marriage:
"We kept joking that all of the crew felt like they were living in a house where the parents were fighting and you don't know where to stand or where to look."
One source in the latest August 10 issue of Life & Style explains that all that fighting on set led to Brad's drinking more and more to try to get past the near constant tension:
"Angelina and Brad have had a number of knock-down, drag-out battles during the past few months, but recently she felt that he really hit bottom.
"Through April and May, he was drinking beer and wine at night.
"By June, he started drinking some vodka."
According to the informant, there is nothing to worry about, however, as Brad finally took the hint and has got his drinking back under control:
"She gave him a real wake up call.
"He's vowed to have a happy first anniversary on August 23 -- without a fight.
"His final step was to shave off that mess of a beard."
