Starlin Castro Believes Chicago Cubs' 2015 Season Has Made Him Stronger

Starlin Castro hasn't had the type of breakout season that the Chicago Cubs were hoping he would have in 2015, but he does think that the struggles he has had have made him a stronger player. Chicago is currently one of the best teams in Major League Baseball, and appear to have a good chance to make the MLB postseason.

There is no question that Castro has the potential to become something special if he can put everything together. He has shown flashes of brilliance at the plate, in the field as well as in clutch situations, but flashes are not the type of consistency that the Cubs need from Castro. Chicago has been one of the hottest teams in baseball throughout the last few months, but if they want to make the final push into the postseason, they need everyone locked in and playing their best baseball.

During the 2015 season to this point in time, Castro has compiled a .242 batting average to go along with 6 home runs and 47 RBI's.

Despite all of the struggles that Castro has had this season, he is remaining confident in his ability and steadfast in his commitment to the Cubs. He said that he feels stronger as a player through all of the issues that he has had, and talked about why he feels that way.

"Those moments make you stronger," Castro said. "For me right now, it doesn't matter where I am in the lineup. I just want to be in the lineup every day, to get my confidence back, to get my every-day play back. That's what we're trying to do again."

Joe Maddon has also been an upgrade for the Cubs, and talked about the All-Star potential that believes Castro has moving forward.

"This guy is an All-Star-caliber player. He's just had a hard time this year. And it happens. It happens to all of us. But like I said, I think he's done everything properly, and we'll see how it plays."

This definitely, this sets the stage for a very intriguing remainder of the season. Castro certainly has to prove himself in a big way if he wants any chance of getting back into the lineup every day. He has the talent, but he has to figure out how to pair that talent with consistency.
