Amazon Announces Fall 2015 Pilots

Amazon Studios has released its next batch of pilots ripe for the picking. These six pilots are sure to tickle your fancy. They will each premiere on Amazon Prime this fall. The new batch of pilots hoping to get picked up come with some big names attached to them: Shane Black (Iron Man 3, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Tim Blake Nelson (O, Leaves of Grass) and Sasha Baron Cohen (Borat). Other stars involved include Christina Ricci, Terry O'Quinn and Tig Notaro.

The great thing about the way that Amazon selects its shows is that it leaves the decision up to the subscribers, according to Slashfilm. The feedback provided helps Amazon decide which shows stay, and which ones go. The shows that get a thumbs up from the service will receive a full series order.

Edge

Edge is based on the bestselling book series of the same name by George G. Gilman. This ultra-violent western tale shows you the sly, powerful side of the west. The story is set in 1868, and Josiah "Edge" Hedges was a Union officer who became a cowboy. He patrols the West dealing out his own brand of justice.

Edge also stars Ryan Kwanten (True Blood) as Merritt Harknett, and Yvonne Strahovski (The Astronaut Wives Club, Chuck) as Beth. Edge was developed by Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Iron Man 3) and Fred Dekker (Tales from the Crypt, Star Trek: Enterprise), teleplay by Black and Dekker, is directed by Black, and executive produced by Black, Dekker, Barry Josephson (Bones, Turn: Washington Spies), and David Greenblatt (Battle Los Angeles).

Patriot

Intelligent officer, John Tavner, lives a complicated life. This political thriller follows Tavner on his latest assignment: preventing Iran from going nuclear. In this mission, he will encounter multiple perilous situation while under the cover of a Midwestern industrial piping firm. Tavner's mission will be tested multiple times, whether it be his PTSD, the government's incompetence, and the stresses of keeping his cover.

The pilot also stars Terry O'Quinn (Lost) as Tom Tavner, John's State Department Director of Intelligence father, Michael Chernus (Manhattan Project), as John's older brother Edward Tavner, a young Texas congressman, Kathleen Munroe (Call Me Fitz), as John's wife Alice, Aliette Opheim (Sandor slash Ida) as Agathe, a brilliant young homicide detective from Luxembourg hot on John's trail, and Kurtwood Smith (That 70s Show) as Mr. Claret, John's stickler of a new "boss" at the piping firm. Patriot is written and directed by Steven Conrad (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Weather Man), and executive produced by Conrad, Gil Bellows (Temple Grandin), Glen Ficarra (Crazy Stupid Love, Focus), Charlie Gogolak (Focus), and John Requa (Crazy Stupid Love, Focus).

Good Girls Revolt

Good Girls Revolt follows a group of young female news researchers who work at "News of the Week," who just want to be treated fairly in the workplace in 1969. The world was in the midst of a sexual and cultural revolution, while the world of news stays the same, refusing to change. This show is a call to action, for every woman who feels the need to stand up and say no. These women will spark change and turn over their marriages, careers, sex lives, love lives and friendships on their heads.

Good Girls Revolt stars Genevieve Angelson (Backstrom) as Patti, Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect) as Jane, Erin Darke (We Need to Talk About Kevin) as Cindy, Chris Diamantopoulos (Silicon Valley) as Finn, Hunter Parrish (Weeds) as Doug, Jim Belushi (Show Me a Hero) as Wick McFadden, Joy Bryant (Parenthood) as Eleanor Holmes Norton, and Grace Gummer as Nora Ephron. A co-production with TriStar Television, Good Girls Revolt is written and created by Dana Calvo (Made in Jersey), directed by Liza Johnson (Return), and executive produced by Calvo, Lynda Obst (Interstellar), Darlene Hunt (The Big C), Don Kurt (Justified) and Jeff Okin (Dark Skies, Stanley Park). The pilot is inspired by the landmark sexual discrimination cases chronicled in Lynn Povich's book, The Good Girls Revolt.

One Mississippi

A dark comedy that is loosely inspired by the life of Tig Notaro. One Mississippi follows Tig as she goes back to her hometown, and tries to reconnect with her mother. While Tig tries to figure out how to reconnect with the only person who actually understood her, with the help of her idiot brother, and distant stepfather. The chaos only gets worse when Tig's girlfriend shows up, showing how out of place Tig actually is.

A co-production with FX Productions, One Mississippi is written and executive produced by Notaro and Diablo Cody (Juno), executive produced by Louis CK (Louie), Blair Breard (Louie), and Dave Becky (Everybody Hates Chris) with pilot directed and executive produced by Nicole Holofcener (Enough Said).

Z

Z is a biographical show that follows the life of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, a brilliant, talented, and beautiful Southern Belle who becomes the original flapper and poster child of the unhinged Jazz Age during the 1920s. Z follows Zelda Sayre's life before she met F. Scott Fitzgerald and moves through their tumultuous relationship, covering everything from the best of times and the love, to the alcoholism and adultery. Z follows the fascinating life of a woman who battled mental illness and abuse, who dared to dream big and establish her own identity. It is one of the most notorious love story ever set in modern times.

Z is written by Dawn Prestwich (The Killing) and Nicole Yorkin (The Killing), directed by Tim Blake Nelson (Anesthesia), and executive produced by Pamela Koffler (Still Alice) and Christine Vachon (One Hour Photo) of Killer Films, as well as Ricci. The show also guest stars David Strathairn (Good Night and Good Luck) as Judge Anthony Dickerson Sayre, Kristine Nielsen (Savages) as Minnie Sayre, Maya Kazan (The Knick) as Livye Hart, Sarah Schenkkan (30 Rock) as Eleanor Browder, Jamie Anne Allman (The Killing) as Tootsie Sayre, and Holly Curran (Alpha House) as Tilde Sayre.

Highston

Highston Liggetts has a ton of celebrity friends; the only catch is that he is the only one that can see them. His parents, John and Wilber force him to get help from a psychiatrist, but his uncle Billy thinks that Highston is OK. Highston is a show that is about trying to be normal in a world that is anything but that.

The pilot Stars Lewis Pullman and Mary Lynn Rajskub, (24) , Curtis Armstrong, (American Dad) and and is written by Oscar-nominee Bob Nelson (Nebraska), directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine), and executive produced by Sacha Baron Cohen (The Dictator), Todd Hoffman (Love Stinks), Nelson, and Todd Schulman (Bruno).
