Megyn Kelly New Show Start Date Shakes Up Sean Hannity, Shep Smith and Van Susteren NOT Bill O’Reilly [UPDATE]

Fox News just announced the start date of Megyn Kelly’s new show and it is shaking up the prime time lineup. Sean Hannity, Shep Smith and Greta Van Susteren will all be moving to new time slots. Only papa bear Bill O’Reilly will remain at his current time of 8:00 p.m.

Fans of Fox News can finally rejoice. The conservative news network has announced that Megyn Kelly will begin hosting her new show on October 7.

Many thought that Kelly wouldn’t begin hosting until November, which is when her maternity leave would have been officially exhausted. But the blonde bombshell continues to surprise audiences and will be coming back a month earlier.

Of course, the date of October 7 is a pretty big one. It’s actually the 17th anniversary of when the network first launched.

Her new show, however, did come at a cost. Many of the veteran anchors will be experiencing a time slot change.

Perhaps the most high-profile of these changes was the announcement that Sean Hannity would be leaving the 9:00 p.m. hour. The longtime broadcaster will be moving to 10:00 p.m.

To do this, Greta Van Susteren had to abandon the time slot she is currently hosting. She will, in turn, be taking over the 7:00 p.m. hour.

That means that Shep Smith has had to retire entirely from the prime time lineup.

The recent changes to their schedule, which was known for being consistent, has a lot of people talking. Of course, one of them is Fox News chief Roger Ailes, who offered this tidbit:

As the network continues to dominate with the top 13 programs in cable news, FOX News already redefined primetime viewing to extend well beyond the antiquated 8-11PM format. We’ve developed a deep bench of engaging and thought-provoking personalities that have grown with FOX News as it has evolved into the most influential and successful cable network in television. These changes will enable the network to continue setting the industry standard for years to come.”

But we want to know what you think? Are you excited about Kelly getting a new show or did you like things the way they were? Will you miss Shep?
