New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros MLB Wild Card Playoff Prediction

The New York Yankees and Houston Astros will face off tonight in MLB Wild Card action. What is a reasonable prediction for tonight's playoff game?

Masahiro Tanaka will be facing Dallas Kuechel on the mound tonight in a star-studded pitching matchup. Both pitchers are more than capable of locking down the other teams rotation and it isn't likely to be an offensive game. That being said, both lineups are capable of putting up huge numbers as well if the pitchers do make a couple mistakes.

It is going to be a very fun and intriguing game to watch tonight with both teams having a lot on the line. Houston hasn't been in a position to compete for a World Series run in a long time, while the Yankees are looking to get back to their winning ways. Neither team was expected to make the postseason prior to the 2015 season, but they played way above their expectations and were able to shock the fans.

Needless to say, it is very difficult to call this game with these two pitchers going up against each other.

New York likely has the better offense if they live up to their potential, but they will need big games from Alex Rodriguez, Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran in particular. Those three bats could decide whether or not the Yankees advance in the postseason or end up heading home early.

Houston has quite a bit of offensive talent as well with Evan Gattis being the most important player for them. If he is able to assert his power into the game and come through with a home run and a couple of clutch hits, the Astros could be headed to the next round of the postseason. Kuechel has the talent to come through with a huge game and should be able to do just that.

All of that being said, this game is going to come down to the wire and it certainly won't be easy for either team to blow the other out. More than likely they will both have to execute in the final two innings and whoever executes better will come away with the win.

Expect to see both teams leave everything on the line, but the Yankees do have the better lineup and a pitcher who is more than capable of completely shutting the Astros' lineup down.

New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros Final Score Prediction: Yankees 3, Astros 1
