If he had his druthers it seems pretty obvious that Sean Penn would keep his personal life far from the prying eyes of the media, but as the Hollywood icon learned when they were married three decades ago, the really is not an option with Madonna. According to the latest gossip news updates, the 57-year-old popstar recently opened up about a fight she had years ago at Madison Square Garden with her then husband and how it took him 30-years to come back around. In the meantime Jewel recently revealed that she dated the Mystic River Oscar winner for a year back in the early 90s, without anyone ever being the wiser.
While Sean Penn certainly isn't one to open up about his private life, his ex-wife Madonna never shared any such scruples.
During a recent concert at Barclays Center the Queen of Pop recalled how days earlier she was finally about to convince Sean Penn that her art was worthwhile (via Daily Mail):
"I did a show at Madison Square Garden the other night if you heard about it. And my ex-husband was there! Could you imagine?
"He had been at my show 30 years earlier when I was at Madison Square Garden, and he was very upset with me for wearing a costume that was too revealing. That's not a lie!
"Anyway, after the show he wrote me a letter and said he finally appreciates my art...And that is what I have to say about marriage, OK? Thirty f*cking years later."
Unbelievably for Penn, Madonna isn't his only ex suddenly speaking out about their past romance this week.
In her new memoir, Jewel reveals that twenty-years ago or so, she too was involved with Sean, though they both wished to keep things quite at the time (via People):
"We dated for about a year, I was about 21, something like that.
"And I didn't want to be known for who I was dating. But he was very lovely to me."
Although it would appear that Sean Penn isn't an easy man to forget, word has it he is currently having trouble getting over his latest ex as well.
One source in the latest October 19, issue of In Touch explains that the more time that passes, the more a usually stoic Penn finds himself pining for Charlize Theron:
"He usually gets over romances quickly, but the more time that passed. The more he thought about Charlize He's called her a few times...His ego is taking a big hit."
