Fox News, the most watched news channel in America, just announced their newest show, The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson. In a press statement issued today, FNC released the premiere date, time slot and the title of Gretchen’s new one-hour weekday program.
Fans of Fox News can finally rejoice. The cable news network announced that Gretchen Carlson would begin her new gig, host of The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson, on Monday, September 30 at 2:00 p.m.
Carlson seemed like a natural fit for the afternoon program. She is, after all, an industry veteran. Before joining the Fox News family, Carlson worked for CBS News, where she served as co-anchor on the Saturday Early Show.
Her fame really skyrocketed, however, when she teamed up with FNC in 2005. Since then, she has really made a name for herself on the hit-show, Fox and Friends.
Carlson couldn’t contain her excitement about the new move and even gave her boss (and visionary), Roger Ailes, a quick shout-out:
“I am thrilled that Roger Ailes has given me the opportunity to host a signature show for Fox that will focus on the real stories of the day. From in-depth interviews to social media interaction live during the show, I look forward to joining viewers in the afternoon for smart and straight-forward talk. Plus, I now get to have breakfast with my kids and maybe even drive them to school! How great is that?"
Viewers will be getting their money's worth with Gretchen. After all, Carlson isn’t just an Emmy award winning reporter, she’s also a classical violinist and Miss America winner.
It’s too soon to say what effect she will have on Fox News’ ratings--but if history is any indication-- she will destroy the competition. The cable news network has dominated the ratings for 11 straight years.
