Pet Halloween Costume Ideas for Dogs, Cats and Even Guinea Pigs

This year, people are dressing their darling pups up as anything from lions to hot dogs and everything in between. They even have cats and guinea pigs getting involved in the pet Halloween costume fun. Dara Foster, Pet Fashion Stylist says, "PetSmart has a great line of costumes for rodents."

Lions and tigers and dinosaurs?! Oh my! No matter the species of your pet, everyone seems to enjoy giving their animal a species make-over and there are all kinds of options. For dogs, dinosaur dog costumes of several varieties have been introduced including a Raptor, Triceratops and Stegosaurus. Larger cats may be able to don this prehistoric attire and even some Guinea Pig owners have given their pets a buzzing attitude.

Wanna show off your furry pal's inner geek? With Disney bringing back Star Wars, that is not hard to do. No matter their size, your pet can go as any number of Star Wars characters. Darth Vader, Chewbacca and even Yoda costumes have hit the market with a vengeance. If you think your dog is up for the challenge, perhaps you could even turn it into an Emperial Walker! The DC and Marvel Comic movies have really brought comic book heroes back into the spotlight and with them all sorts of pet costumes! Heroic costumes are available to the tune of Super Puppy, Bat Cat, Captain American Bull Doggy or even Spider Pig! Personally, I prefer a truly classic hero, Mighty Mouse.

If this Halloween is going to be a family affair and you want to coordinate the whole gang, there are plenty of ways to go about that too. As one Party City rep pointed out, "Minions recently became the second biggest animated movie of all time." Try dressing the whole pack as adorable minions. Or, going back to super heroes theme, the Avengers are another awesome group costuming idea, or if you prefer, X-Men!

After checking out some of the really versatile pet costume options, I can only conclude that dressing up our fur buddies for Halloween isn't going to the dogs anytime soon.
