Leah Remini has been generating a lot of press lately. This time, she blasted Tom Cruise’s Scientology live on television. Her comments have some members, including Kirstie Alley, allegedly livid at DWTS Season 17 for casting Remini. We’ll take a look at the latest rumors and see if there is any truth to these claims.
Leah first made headlines earlier in the summer, when she had a very high-profile split with the Church of Scientology. This caught many by surprise, considering Leah has been a Scientologist her entire life. Her mom got involved why she and her siblings were still small children and, until recently, Remini was a practicing member.
That was until recently, when Remini called it quits with the religion and openly criticized it’s leader, David Miscavige. Leah also brought the law in on it.
The former King of Queens’ star filed a missing persons report on behalf of Shelly Miscavige, David’s wife. Shelly, Leah claimed, has not been seen in public for six years.
The LAPD has since reported that those accusations were unfounded. Officers claim that they made face-to-face contact with Miscavige following the complaint, and she appeared to be in good humor and health.
Since then, however, Remini has fired back at the church. In the most recent episode of Dancing With the Stars, Remini is seen telling her dancing partner:
"The church is looking for me to fail so they can say to the parishioners you see, 'Look what happens when you leave the church.'"
Now, Radar Online has reported that Kirstie was furious with the casting decision. They quote a “source” as saying:
“[Alley] was absolutely stunned when it was announced that Leah would be a contestant on the show,” the source told Radar. “Kirstie did feel extremely betrayed. Kirstie was livid that Leah made those comments about the church on Monday night.”
