AMC has released the first trailer for their upcoming television series Preacher, based on the comic book of the same name. This trailer is laced with so much suspense that you can feel the impending violence as it hangs in the air. It is going to be great!
Preacher is a series that has been in the works for years. It started out as a film, and there were many big Hollywood names attached to it. It was also a show/film that fans never thought they would ever get to see. Finally, it is here, and it is brilliant. AMC is the right network to take on this gritty, blasphemous tale. Preacher is produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin. Based on the comic created by Garth Ennis, and stars Dominic Cooper as the determined Jesse Custer.
Preacher is the story about Jesse Custer, a preacher from Annville Texas who goes on a journey across the US seeking to literally find God. God abandoned Heaven the moment a mysterious entity, Genesis, was born. Genesis is a young creature, born from Angel and Demon, and possesses Custer. The Preacher is joined in his journey by his girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and heavy drinking Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun).
There is a lot to like about this trailer, whether it is the hidden evil lurking just behind the trailers music, or the emptiness that Dominic Cooper portrays on the screen. There is a seriousness in his mission, but it seems as though he is pleading with the child for direction. This is an interesting stance to take. Cooper portrays the empty soul of a Preacher with a dark past. You truly get the sense that God is gone. I cannot wait till the show airs sometime in early 2016!
