Philadelphia Eagles Should Consider Re-Signing QB Tim Tebow Amidst Recent Struggles

Tim Tebow was released just before the start of the 2015 NFL season by the Philadelphia Eagles, but Chip Kelly and the Eagles should consider re-signing him amidst the recent struggles that the team has had to start the season.

Why should the Eagles consider bringing Tebow back and considering giving him some playing time immediately?

First of all, Sam Bradford and the Eagles' offense has gotten off to a terrible start. He hasn't fit into Kelly's system at all and he has been making poor throws to say the very least. Mark Sanchez is currently the backup for the Eagles, but he is the exact same type of quarterback and Tebow could be used so much more effectively in Kelly's offense.

Even throughout the preseason it was easy to see that Tebow was comfortable with the Philadelphia offense. He was making crisp throws and was making plays with his legs as well. Tebow wasn't perfect during the preseason, but he was much better than he has been in years past.

Adding in a quarterback capable of making throws and picking up big yardage with his legs would add the type of weapon that the Eagles are in desperate need of right now.

Leadership is another area that the Eagles' offense has been struggling with so far this season. They don't have a player who can step up and take control of the team. That is one area that Tebow proved himself during his tenure with the Denver Broncos in taking his team to the playoffs and knocking off the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round.

He would immediately come in and take the reigns of the offense and get the team in order. Tebow also knows how to push his teammates to play their hardest and understands what it takes to win.

While there will always be those that hate on Tebow's mechanics, there is simply no one that can take the fact that he wins football games away from him.

Would adding Tebow make them a championship contender? Probably not, but they would at the very least be a better football team and compete to make the playoffs. Tebow likely could have come in and won some of the games that the Eagles have lost throughout the season.

This isn't likely to happen, but Kelly and the Eagles should strongly consider giving him a chance. Tebow is still in top physical shape and is prepared like he always has been when a team decides to call his number.
