Last month it was reported that former Disney star Zac Efron had completed a secret stint in rehab for alcohol addiction. Since then, new details have come out suggesting that the High School Musical actor has actually undergone not one but two trips to treatment for a cocaine addiction.
Reports are now surfacing that Zac Efron has been keeping his drug abuse a secret for years. What was initially reported as an alcohol addiction, has since become much more serious. TMZ is quoting an unamed sorce close to the actor as saying:
"It was common knowledge he was struggling with cocaine."
The statement corroborates a similar sorce reported by Star Magazine, who added that his problems with substance abuse dates all the way back to 2011, when he showed up to Ashley Tisdale's birthday party “messed up on cocaine and Molly," adding:
“I think that’s the first time his pals realized his partying was way out of control,”
Star's source also alleges the Effron's second stint in rehab might not be his last:
“Zac still drinks a beer when he goes out because he says he doesn’t have a problem with alcohol. But he’s an addict and needs to stay completely sober.”
Meanwhile, Zac broke his silence by posting a message to his fans on his Instagram last week, which read:
"Hey guys! Just returned from an incredible trip to Peru with my dad and wanted to thank you all for your support these past few weeks...means the world to me. Love you guys! - Z."
Efron rose to stardom in the mid 2000s, as the star of the smash hit High School Musical Trilogy. He had seemingly managed to escape the Disney curse, until the recent revelation came to light.
