Megyn Kelly New Primetime Fox News Show ‘The Kelly File’ Preview, Says “Not the Next Bill O’Reilly”

Megyn Kelly’s new primetime Fox News show will be premiering soon. The anchor of the upcoming The Kelly File, told Bill that she wasn’t going to be the next Bill O’Reilly, when she previewed her new show on The O’Reilly Factor.

Fans of Megyn Kelly got a special treat on Thursday night. The anchor made one of her first public appearances, since having gone on maternity leave over the summer.

She appeared on Pappa Bear O’Reilly’s uber-hit show, The O’Reilly Factor, where she discussed her upcoming show, The Kelly File.

Kelly was careful to emphasize that her show would be a news program and not an opinion hour, as she told Bill:

"It's gonna be a news program, breaking news, not an opinion program so I'm not gonna be the female Bill."

"Well, you should be," O'Reilly responded.

"Tempting as that is,” Kelly laughed and joked, but insisted that she would be providing “both sides of the view.”

Megyn Kelly, who once hosted a successful afternoon news program, will begin her own 9:00 p.m. show on the date of October 7. Of course, her recent promotion came with more than a few changes for the hosts of Fox News’ nightly programs.

Specifically, Sean Hannity will be losing his longtime timeslot and will be moving to the 10:00 p.m. hour. This means that Greta will be moving to 7:00 p.m., Shep Smith’s old timeslot.

Shep is perhaps the most displaced, as he will no longer be hosting his evening show. Don't worry Fox fans, you'll still be able to catch Smith weekdays at 3:00 p.m. Not only will he continue hosting his hit afternoon program, but Shep will also be leading a news team which will focus on breaking news. If important information arises throughout the day, Shepard will be on hand to provide dedicated coverage (which he will be doing from a brand new, state of the art studio).

Vanity Fair recently covered the Fox News scheduling changes, specifically Shep's new role. According to their reporting:

"Going forward, Smith will be able to determine when a news event rises to a level where his team ought to get on air...In doing so, his group can start booking experts, arranging data and following leads, all the while showing viewers what information is surfacing in various venues and how much of it is reliable."

Fox has also confirmed the title of Megyn’s new show, The Kelly File. In a press release, the news network said:

"As the newest edition to the line-up, 'The Kelly File' will focus on late-breaking stories in a live format as well as in-depth investigative reports interspersed with newsmaker interviews."
